Terrell
Moffett
Terrell Moffett has been photographing people and
places for more than 25 years. Growing up on the Wasatch Front
in Northern Utah, he developed a passion for nature, and spent
a great deal of time photographing in the Ogden and Cache Valley
areas. While working on his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Utah
State University, he turned his interests to photographing people
in their own environments. In 1994, Terrell opened Moffett Photography
in Nampa, Idaho, specializing in location portraiture. The ensuing
years have brought much recognition for the accomplishments of
both the studio and his personal photographic work.
Terrell's skill as a master printer has been very
beneficial in the studios transition to digital photography.
He has always had his own vision of how a finished print should
look, whether black and white or color. With color, though,
he had always relied on professional photo labs to do his printing,
and to get someone else to print his vision on paper was a nearly
impossible task. Now, since converting to digital capture,
he has again taken over the duties of printing. "Color
photography has become exciting again," he says. "Being
able to subtly manipulate the tones and hues in an image to produce
a print that is truly a representation of what my vision at the
time of capture was is invigorating to the soul."
While the portrait is a big part of his life, as
well as the mainstay of his business, Terrell's passion is still
in capturing his vision of the world around him and helping others
to do the same. More and more of his time is currently being devoted
to creating, exhibiting and selling his Fine Art photographs. Photographic
education, both as a student and as an instructor has always been
important to Terrell. He has studied with many of the best photographers in the country and is now devoting
more time teaching fundamental and creative photography and composition
classes.
